By and for students, clinicians, patients and researchers: all together to break down barriers

Organised as part of the CHARM-EU European University alliance, the international conference ‘Integrated approaches to fight colorectal cancer: all together to break down barriers’ is taking place on 25 September 2024. This event marks the start of an experimental international teaching module for students from the University of Montpellier and the University of Utrecht, both members of the CHARM-EU alliance of European universities.

The conference will bring together clinicians, researchers and patient associations (Digestive Cancers Europe, Mon réseau cancer colorectal, etc.) to share their expertise with international students from different disciplines. It is a unique opportunity for everyone involved in the fight against colorectal cancer to meet, exchange ideas and innovate together. Following the conference, teams of students will work throughout the academic year to propose research projects related to the disease, with the help of the international network of researchers interested in the topic.

This programme has been designed in collaboration with the SIRIC Montpellier Cancer, a site of excellence in cancer research accredited by the French National Cancer Institute (INCa), whose ambition is to develop new diagnostic and therapeutic concepts for cancer patients through an interdisciplinary approach. Several institutions on the site are involved, in particular the Montpellier Cancer Institute, the Montpellier Cancer Research Institute, the Montpellier Charles Gerhardt Institute and the Max Mousseron Biomolecules Institute.
