On May 27th, the PINKCC Lab organized a seminar day at the Institut de Recherche en Cancérologie de Montpellier (IRCM), dedicated to the theme “AI & Multimodal Imaging in Oncology.” The event highlighted the latest advances in research conducted by Prof. Stéphanie Nougaret’s team and its academic partners in the fields of oncologic imaging and artificial intelligence applied to cancer.

The seminar brought together researchers, clinicians, and international experts around a shared objective: developing innovative tools to better understand cancer across multiple scales, from medical imaging to molecular analyses.

Innovative Research Projects from the PINKCC Lab

Researchers from the PINKCC Lab presented several ongoing projects focused on the use of artificial intelligence, radiomics, and advanced imaging technologies in oncology.

  • Florent Tachenne and Mathis PersonDevelopment of MRI Biomarkers for the Prediction of Response to Radiotherapy in Pancreatic Cancer
  • Charles BergerAutomated Segmentation and PCI Evaluation of High-Grade Serous Ovarian Cancer
  • Fadel KpegouniTowards Improved Prognostic Stratification: A Radiomics Approach to Ovarian and Cervical Cancers
  • Dr. Margaux Verdier and Chad Estoup-Streiff9.4T MRI–Histology Coregistration in High-Grade Serous Ovarian Cancer: From Lesion Identification to Slide Correlation
  • Dr. Marie Pelissier-Combescure and Damien BonzomMultimodal Integration for HGSOC Outcome Prediction: A Unified Pipeline Taxonomy
  • Dr. Jean-Philippe VilleminSpatial Transcriptomics in Ovarian Cancer

Strengthening International Research Partnerships

The afternoon sessions focused on international collaborations and the opportunities offered by emerging technologies in oncology.

International guest speakers included:

  • Dr. Jonathan Dong (EPFL, Switzerland) – Algorithms and Theory for Stain-Free Cellular Imaging
  • Prof. Gigin Lin (Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Taiwan) – Imaging Cancer Metabolism: From Radiomics to Metabolomics and Hyperpolarized MRI
  • Prof. Weichung Wang (National Taiwan University, Taiwan) – Advancing Pancreatic Cancer Detection and Diagnosis Through AI Analysis of Routine Clinical Scans
  • Prof. Hugues Talbot (CentraleSupélec, France) – AI & Oncology: Recent Breakthroughs

Collaborating Beyond Borders

Moderated by Prof. Stéphanie Nougaret, the various sessions fostered fruitful discussions between researchers and clinicians on the scientific and technological challenges of precision oncology.

The event highlighted the dynamism of the PINKCC Lab and the importance of interdisciplinary and international collaborations in accelerating the development of innovative diagnostic and therapeutic approaches against cancer.
