On April 14, 2026, the SiRIC CURAMUS and SiRIC InsiTu, in collaboration with the PEDIACRIEX pediatric oncology centers, organized the 2nd Inter-SIRIC SHS Day at Pitié-Salpêtrière. This event brought together researchers in human and social sciences from all SiRICs to discuss the theme: “Thinking about diverse actors, timelines, and innovations in oncology.”

SIRIC Montpellier Cancer Contributions

Mathieu Gourlan, research engineer in health psychology at the Epidaure department of ICM – Institut du Cancer de Montpellier and member of SIRIC Montpellier Cancer, delivered two key presentations.

Pilot Study: “Semaine des Epidauries”

This school-based sun prevention intervention targets children aged 7-11 in Montpellier and Nîmes (394 participants). It shows significant effects on sun protection behaviors, knowledge, attitudes, and action control. Among the few French studies evaluating child sun risk prevention, it uniquely identifies the mechanisms driving its impact.

Ongoing Onco-Genetics Protocol

Led by Stanislas Quesada (ICM/IRCM) and Pascal Pujol (CHU Montpellier), this project assesses a motivational intervention’s effects on health behaviors (physical activity, diet, alcohol, tobacco) in carriers of germline pathogenic variants predisposing to cancer. At the intersection of health psychology, medical genetics, and public health, it exemplifies SIRIC Montpellier Cancer’s interdisciplinary dynamism.

Strategic Alignment

These presentations highlight SIRIC Montpellier Cancer’s leadership in prevention and supportive care, core to its mission in integrated oncology research.
