The SIRIC Montpellier Cancer and SIRIC InsiTu centers are collaborating on the inter-SIRIC project M&M’s, dedicated to multi-scale MRI studies in mouse models of pancreatic cancer.

What is the M&M’s project about?

The project aims to develop predictive markers of tumor progression using quantitative MRI that combines multiple imaging parameters, such as elastography to assess mechanical properties and diffusion imaging, in preclinical models of pancreatic cancer.

What research work is being carried out?

The InsiTu teams are developing the pancreatic cancer model and performing the quantitative MRI acquisitions. SIRIC Montpellier Cancer is conducting histological analyses to interpret the functional MRI data. The collaborating teams are also establishing standardized methods to validate MRI parameters against histological markers.

From imaging to predictive markers

Quantitative MRI data are compared with histology to characterize tumors—looking at features such as hypoxia, vascularization, and necrosis—in order to build multimodal predictive markers. This integrated approach aims to capture tumor heterogeneity more effectively and identify imaging signatures linked to pancreatic cancer progression.

Who is involved?

The project brings together the Garteiser / Van Beers team (SIRIC InsiTu) and Marion Tardieu from the team of Stéphanie Nougaret (SIRIC Montpellier Cancer).
