A neuropsychological rehabilitation to improve patients\u2019 lives<\/h1>\n

The SIRIC Montpellier Cancer IRP-2 PANACEA Research Program supports the\u00a0FREEDOME study<\/strong>, coordinated by neuro-oncologist Dr. Am\u00e9lie Darlix and neuropsychologist Dr. Estelle Guerdoux from the Montpellier Cancer Institute.<\/p>\n

This fall, the\u00a0FREEDOME study protocol<\/strong>\u00a0was published in\u00a0Frontiers in Psychology\u00a0Section Neuropsychology<\/em><\/p>\n

What is the FREEDOME study?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

FREEDOME is a multicentre trial including\u00a0187 patients across 8 French centres<\/strong>, testing a structured neuropsychological\u00a0rehabilitation program for neurocognitive complaints in lower-grade gliomas:<\/p>\n

ICM, CHU de Bordeaux, CHU d’Amiens, CHRU de Nancy, CHU de Lyon, IUCT Toulouse, APHM Marseille, CHU de N\u00eemes<\/p>\n

Why it matters<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Lower-grade gliomas (grade 2 or 3) often affect young adults and can lead to difficulties with emotions, memory, attention, and executive functions, impacting work, family, and social life.<\/p>\n

What will be assessed<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The study evaluates cognitive complaints, psychological aspects (including anxiety and depression), quality of life, fatigue, and detailed neurocognitive functions. The goal is to combine human behavioural and cognitive-therapy based-care with neurocognitive\u00a0digital tools and develop accessible, evidence-based rehabilitation pathways for patients with lower-gradegliomas.<\/p>\n

The interventional\u00a0FREEDOME study is funded by the\u00a0Ministry of Health and Prevention<\/strong>\u00a0(PHRC-I No. 2022-086) and\u00a0SIRIC 3<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
