Launch of the SIRIC Montpellier Cancer Oncogenetics Project in 2025<\/h2>

The “Oncogenetics” project led by SIRIC Montpellier Cancer aims to assess the impact of an intervention based on Self-Determination Theory (SDT) on motivation to change behaviors in four key health areas: physical activity, nutrition, alcohol consumption, and smoking. The project targets individuals at very high risk for cancer (i.e., carriers of pathogenic germline variants).<\/p>\n

Launched this year, the project has the following preliminary objectives:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • \n

    To assess the level of motivation related to each of the four health areas within a cohort of 600 participants (using the French adaptation of the Treatment Self-Regulation Questionnaire by Levesque et al., 2007),<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    To develop non-pharmacological intervention programs (NPIs) based on SDT and targeting these four behaviors.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    In 2026, an experimental study will be conducted to test these NPIs and their impact on autonomous motivation to change behaviors in the four targeted health domains. Ultimately, the goal is to help individuals maintain this motivation in the long term in order to adopt and sustain healthy behaviors.<\/p>\n

    Co-coordinated by Dr. Stanislas Quesada and Dr. Mathieu Gourlan<\/strong>, this project lies at the intersection of several disciplines:<\/p>\n

      Oncogenetics specialists from Montpellier University Hospital (Prof. Pascal Pujol) and the ICM (Drs. Isabelle Coupier and Marion Imbert-Bouteille)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Supportive Care Department at ICM (Drs. Pierre Senesse and H\u00e9lo\u00efse Lecornu)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n
